We transfer into the nearby Pyrenees to begin along excellent tertiary roads, which meander through charming Basque villages, along the Irati River. Ernest Hemingway would go for dips in these waters, which he described as “clear as light.” We follow his trail to where he loved to go spend the afternoons trout fishing, while cycling through parts of the Camino de Santiago. We visit the small hotel and the very room where the Nobel laureate slept, which the family has kept the same for all these years. Stay to enjoy an authentic Hemingway-style lunch.
