This ebike journey is for travelers interested in riding the Saint James Way, a pilgrimage route that dates back to the 12th century, and laid over ancient Roman roadways. This route has seen thousands of pilgrims and other travelers who have set out on a journey through the gorgeous Spanish countryside. Feel the culture and history under your wheels as you ride the ancient paths that lead to Santiago de Compostela. From rustic farm-fresh meals, the food and wine along the way is also phenomenal. We will be visiting the cities of Pamplona, Logroño, Burgos, Leon and Santiago de Compostela.

We begin with a meet and greet welcome in Pamplona, and a prepare your E-bike to ensure a perfect fit and be handed your Camino credentials. We transfer to Roncesvalles and cycle to Pamplona. Dinner will be a locals’ experience at our private social club, where you join us food-lovers as we cook up a storm. This will give us an opportunity to dine together and discuss your Way. There is nothing better than hearing us locals conversing about this fabulous region over a delicious meal and wine in abundance. A tribute to Navarra wines. Learn how to make a Paella, in tune with the local seasonal produce and using only the best ingredients. Enjoy the club with a fine wine in hand. In a nutshell, you will fall in love with Pamplona, northern Spain and your NST team.

Afternoon Pleasures: Culinary evening with a show cooking experience
We cycle to the pearl among vineyards of Northern Spain, the Arínzano Estate, which is the oldest wine estate in Spain, going back to the year 1055. when the wine was cultivated by the monks of the neighboring Aberin monastery, who soon marveled at the extreme quality of the wines they grew. You visit the premises, designed by the well-known architect Raphael Moneo, and enjoy a wine tasting. After an early dinner we will transfer to your hotel in Logroño. Dinner will be pintxos and wines in the bustling streets of the famous Calle Laurel in Logroño.

Afternoon Pleasures: Visit to an exclusive winery, for wine tasting among the vineyards.
A day out with NST to explore the region known for its truly world-class wineries. We will visit the heart of the wine region and central to top wineries. We will make a private visit to a centuries-old winery with winding tunnels deep underground and thousands upon thousands of bottles, sometimes referred to as the Sistine Chapel of wine. Hemingway himself loved to visit this winery and we can enjoy a tasting afterwards with high quality jamon de bellota. (Or another from a shortlist of recommendations). We will also enjoy wine tasting in a handful of top winery wine bars, like Muga, la Rioja Alta, Gomez Cruzado. Lunch will be either in the vineyards as a show cooking type catered meal or as a tasting menu in La Vieja Bodega (a Michelin recommended restaurant), which was once a 17th Century winery of the Marqués de Vargas, whose manor is also in that town.

Take a break from the bike: Touring the Rioja wine region
We will cycle along the Camino to Burgos. We will enjoy a picnic lunch on the way. Afternoon pleasures include a visit to the historic quarter of Burgos, as well as explore the UNESCO Cathedral of Burgos. and enjoy the charming historic quarter. The rest of the afternoon is for you to discover this city. This evening dine on your own – our guides can readily recommend a few favorite restaurants.

Afternoon Pleasures: City tour of Burgos
Both the scenic countryside and the diversity of landscape make this section of the Camino great fun. We ride past the pretty vineyards of the region, making our way to Santo Domingo de la Calzada, thus ending this stage of our route through the Ebro valley. At the end of the day take time on your own to explore the hotel. We regroup for a visit to Santo Domingo de la Calzada – a small town with a huge history and dinner at the Parador.

Afternoon Pleasures: Tour of Santo Domingo de la Calzada
On leaving Santo Domingo we ride on level pathways, then proceed on winding paths up hills into the Oca Mountains, followed by vertiginous descents to San Juan de Ortega. Along the Camino across the Castilian plateau, we will find many small villages with centuries-old churches. We cross the impressive Fitero bridge over the Pisuerga River. Later we stop to admire the Spanish Romanesque architecture of the church of San Martín in Fromista, or the the ruins of the convent San Antón in Castrojeriz. No less impressive is our magnificent four star accommodation at the Hotel Monasterio de San Zoilo.

This day of the Camino provides easy riding through the field of Palencia on wide paths that will take us straight to the beautiful city of León. We cycle along the route of the Roman Vía Aquitana that linked the towns of Bordeaux and Astorga. Welcome to the city of Leon, a labyrinth of streets where bars and inns are plentiful. This is the ideal place to celebrate reaching the halfway mark with a Ribera de Duero wine and tapas dinner out on the town.

Take a break from riding: Enjoy Leon on your own
We cycle sections of the Camino to Cacabelos. We will visit Gaudi’s Palace. Gaudi’s construction was never actually put to use but makes for a delightful walk through. The cathedral was declared a National Monument in 1931, dating back to the early 11th century.. If there is time we will visit the Museum of chocolate. We cycle to El Cruz de Ferro. We make a stop to visit Ponferrada, the famous town of the Templars. Visit the Castle famous for Paulo Coelho’s book. Continue your Camino to Cacabelos. One of the famous towns is el Bierzo. We have lunch at the Moncloa de San Lazaro Cacabelos, then transfer to your hotel. We will enjoy an in house dinner.

We will cycle sections to Sarria. We will visit O’Cebreiro, considered for many the place where the actual Camino was born. Elias Valiño, was the priest who in the 60’s took a brush and some yellow paint and started painting arrows all over the Camino. There is a famous story that says that when Elias was stopped by the police and was asked who he was he responded: “I am just a priest”. Then, he was asked what he was doing and he replied: “I am preparing an invasion” and later explained that the ‘invasion’ was of pilgrims. Elias is probably one of the few priests buried inside a church. It is usually only a reward for bishops and popes..We spend the night in Sarria and have dinner in the best steak house in the region.

We ride to Arzua and stop for a picnic on the crossroad for pilgrims coming from the Camino Primitivo who join the Camino. We cycle through Galician landscapes of green plots of divided by stone hedges, towards the distant horizon which is always inviting us forward. Our accommodation is on the winery grounds surrounded by picturesque vineyards. We regroup for dinner in the hotel.

We savour our last riding day of the Saint James Way. It is a fun last peddle to the main square of Santiago and hooray, you made it! Time to celebrate. Walking
You love to hike and are not afraid of a little sweat and some good uphills.
Our trip may include 12-15 km (7-10 miles) a day on various grades of terrain on a diversity of surfaces. Expect steeper climbs with phenomenal views and mountainscapes.
Biking
You love to bike at home regularly and can handle some sweat.
Our trip may include 40-60 km (25-40 miles) a day on rolling terrain with a few longer climbs rewarded with views and high points you will not want to miss.
Walking
You enjoy longer hikes with an incline or two and don’t mind pushing it a bit. Our trip may include around 6-12 km (4-8 miles) a day of walking on mostly flat terrain with a couple steeper but non-sustained climbs.
Biking
You ride your bike at home and are comfortable on a bike for a few hours. Our trip may include 40-60 km (25-40 miles) a day on mostly flat terrain and will include inclines and the occasional sustained climb.
Walking
You love to push yourself and can handle a longer hike with some sustained inclines and steep uphills. Our trip may include 10-15 km (6 -10 miles) on terrain that can be quite hilly and rolling with a few steeper climbs thrown in for good measure. The views will blow you away.
Biking
Test your mettle on off-the-beaten-paths that will stun and delight, along with legendary cycling routes in the north of Spain. You are an avid rider who loves to push themselves and enjoy the challenge of a big climb or sustained inclines. Our trip may include over 60-80 km (37 – 49 miles) a day in rolling hills with frequent climbs and even longer options available. You will be the master of your universe.
Walking
You like to go on walks at home but nothing that works up a sweat. Our trip may include around 5-10 km (3-6 miles) a day of walking on mostly flat terrain, with an occasional hill on well maintained trails or walkways.
Biking
You are in decent shape but don’t habitually ride a bike at home. Our trip may include 30-50 km (20-30 miles) a day on mostly flat terrain with a few small and achievable inclines.
