Inside the private space of a local fishing family, stories, techniques and freshly prepared seafood reveal a tradition passed down through generations — authentic, personal and deeply connected to the sea.

Where Culinary Tradition Crosses Borders
Crossing into the French Basque countryside, the landscape softens into villages defined by agriculture, craftsmanship and culinary heritage.
Local traditions, distinctive regional ingredients and Michelin-level cuisine offer a refined expression of Basque identity. By afternoon, elegant coastal towns invite exploration at your own pace, where ocean views and timeless architecture create a sense of calm and continuity.
Where Culture Moves Freely
Today unfolds between Biarritz and Saint-Jean-de-Luz, where the elegance of the French Basque coast meets a deeply rooted maritime culture. Walking through lively streets and along the seafront, you discover a world of refined architecture, local character and an enduring connection to the Atlantic.
A gentle stroll through Basque-French boutiques and market streets reveals the region’s distinctive style, while stops for fresh seafood offer a taste of the coast at its most authentic. Between graceful façades, fishing heritage and the rhythm of daily life, the day captures the charm, flavour and cultural richness that define this remarkable corner of the Basque coast.
La Rhune
On this final day, you ascend La Rhune by historic mountain train, climbing through mist, forest and open mountain landscapes long woven into Basque memory.
Descending towards the Spanish side, you enter the villages of Cinco Villas, where stone houses, green hills and quiet valleys evoke the rural origins of Basque culture.
The day closes at the house-museum of a wood artist, whose carved works give form to ancient myths, forest spirits and ancestral stories, a final encounter with the magic, identity and imagination of the Basque world.
